EAU CLAIRE (October 11, 2013) - UW-Stout lost both contests on the first day of the Sandy Schumacher Memorial Volleyball Invitational at UW-Eau Claire Friday.
The Blue Devils (13-9) lost in three sets, 25-16, 25-21, 25-20 to conference opponent UW-La Crosse in the first match, then dropped a five set contest to Gustavus Adolphus College, 25-19, 29-31, 14-25, 25-23, 15-11. Earlier in the season, Stout had defeated Gustavus in a five set match.
Against the Eagles (8-9), only
Molly Brion (So, Cameron) averaged more than two kills per set. Brion finished with seven kills in the three set match.
Morgan Denny (Jr, Luck) and
Laura Reiter (So, Lino Lakes, Minn) each has six kills. Crystal Ziegler and Lauren Probst each had eight kills for La Crosse.
In the marathon with Gustavus, Rachel Tshumperlin (So, Fairmont, Minn) had 11 kills to lead Stout. Reiter and Briaon each had 10 kills. Denny and Reiter each had three solo blocks. The Gusties (9-13) got 21 kills from Alyssa Taylor and 13 from Janessa Jahnke.
Stout will take on UM-Morris and Augsburg College, Saturday, Oct. 12.
