ST. PAUL, Minn (September 8, 2012) - UW-Stout put the wraps on a successful week by winning both matches on the final day of the Hamline University Invitational Saturday.
The Blue Devils (4-5) had no problem with Presentation College, winning in three sets, 25-16, 25-18, 25-13, then needed four sets to put away Buena Vista, coming back from a first set loss to win the match, 14-25, 25-17, 25-19, 26-24.
Combined with a 3-1 win over Augsburg College earlier in the week, Stout won four of five matches over the week.
Against Presentation,
Morgan Denny (So, Luck) rolled out a hitting percentage of .733 with 12 kills on 15 attacks with only one attack error. Denny also had three block assists.
While her hitting percentage dropped against Buena Vista, Denny still put down 10 kills and added a solo block and four assisted blocks.
Kate Mikutowski (Sr, Stillwater, Minn) recorded 14 kills and four block assists, while
Molly Brion (Fr, Cameron) had 12 kills. Kirsten Van Zuiden had 14 kills for the Vikings. Mikutowski was selected to the all-tournament team.
Stout is off until next weekend when they are at the St. Catherine Tournament, Sept. 14-15.
