After losing first set, Blue Devils come back to down Augsburg, 3-1

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (September 4, 2012) - UW-Stout battled back from a first set deficit to defeat Augsburg College, 3-1, Tuesday at Augsburg.

Stout (1-4) fell, 25-16, in the first set, but came back to win the match, 25-22, 25-23, 25-23. Stout held off Augsburg (3-2) in the final set. Holding a 20-14 lead, the Auggies pulled to within 23-22 before the Blue Devils got the win. Molly Brion (Fr, Cameron) sealed the win with a kill.

The Auggies held a decided advantage at the blocking line, recording one solo block, but 28 block assists. The Blue Devils returned three solo blocks - all three by Morgan Denny (So, Luck) - and had 12 assisted blocks.

Stout held an advantage at the serving line, recording seven service aces, with Denny putting down three. The Auggies had four service aces.

Kate Mikutowski (Sr, Stillwater, Minn) led the Blue Devils with 13 kills. Brion finished with eight, as did Denny.

The Auggies got 14 kills from Colleen Ourada and 12 from Ashley Peper.

Stout will be at the Hamline University Tournament, Sept. 7-8, and will play four matches.
