ST. PAUL, Minn. (September 15, 2012) - The UW-Stout volleyball team found themselves on both sides of 3-0 decisions in the final day of the University of St. Catherine Tournament Saturday. The Blue Devils defeated Bethany Lutheran College, but then lost to once-beaten Hamline University.
The Blue Devils (6-7) had little trouble vanquishing the Vikings, taking the match 25-13, 25-14, 25-19.
Molly Brion (Fr, Cameron) recorded 15 kills in the win, while hitting .520. The Blue Devils had one solo block and eigh block assists compared to two solo blocks and two block assists for Bethany Lutheran.
Stout did not have an answer for Hamline, a team the played last week at the Hamline tournament. The Pipers took Stout, 25-22, 25-16, 25-13.
Morgan Denny (So, Luck) had nine kills to lead Stout.
Stout will head into WIAC play this week when they are at UW-Eau Claire, Wednesday, Sept. 19, then open the home part of their schedule by hosting UW-Platteville, Friday, Sept. 21 and UW-La Crosse, Saturday, Sept. 22. All three games are slated for 7 p.m. starts.
