Knights clinch title with win over Blue Devils

GREEN BAY (February 10, 2012) - St. Norbert College scored three goals in the first period on their way to a 4-2 win over UW-Stout Friday at the Cornerstone Center.

St. Norbert (15-5-5, 12-4-2 NCHA) got two goals in the first six minutes of the game, both even strength goals by Cullen Bradshaw and Cody Keefer, then tacked on a power play goal in the 14th minute by Chris Ria.

Stout (8-15-1, 4-12-1 NCHA) answered back with a pair of goals in the second period to pull to within one goal. Logan Maly (So, Rio) scored in the 13th minute for his second goal of the season and freshman Carl Bombardier (Valcourt, Quebec) scored his first goal as a Blue Devil in the 17th minute. Chris Stafne (So, Duluth, Minn) and CJ Pullar (Fr, Elk River, Minn) each recorded assists on both goals.

The Knights added another power play goal in the 14th minute of the final period.

Tom Lescovich (Jr, Clifton Park, NY) recorded 39 saves as Stout was outshot, 43-24.

St. Norbert clinched the NCHA title with the win.

The Blue Devils will wrap up the regular season, Saturday, Feb. 11 at UW-Stevens Point. They will participate in the NCHA/Peters Cup Tournament, Feb. 17-18.
