Stout and St. John's skate to 2-2 tie in Blue Devils' fourth road game

ST. CLOUD, Minn (November 2, 2012) - UW-Stout scored the first two goals of the game, but St. John's University scored the final two goals, including the tying goal with less than four minutes remaining in regulation, and the teams skated to a 2-2 tie at the Municipal Athletic Complex Friday.

Kevin O'Donnell (Jr, Stoughton) opened the scoring, getting an assist from Sam Carr (Sr, Roseau, Minn), at the 11 minute mark of the first period.

Stout (0-2-2) doubled the score when Garrett Grimstad (Sr, Rochester, Minn) scored 45 seconds into the second period. Carr got his second assist in the game and Zach Vierling (So, Coon Rapids, Minn) also assisted.

Four minutes laster, the Johnnies (1-1-1) cut the lead in half on a goal by John Haeg. The Johnnies tied the score at 16:41 of the third period on a goal by Neal Smith.

The Blue Devils put three shots on net in the overtime period, while St. John's had two shots in the extra period. Stout's Nick Hopper (Sr, Culver City, Calif) finished the game with 33 saves, while the Johnnies' Mitch Thompson had 27 saves.

Stout will be at Concordia-Moorhead, Saturday, Nov. 3 at 4 p.m.
