WHITEWATER (October 27, 2012) - UW-Stout played a close match with UW-Whitewater, but the scales did not tip the Blue Devils' way and the Warhawks handed Stout a 3-0 loss Saturday.
The Warhawks (24-10, 6-2 WIAC) took the first set 25-18, but Stout (15-13, 3-5 WIAC) tightened the scores in the second and third sets, losing both sets by identical 25-23 decisions.
Leanna Lillge and Caroline Langer combined for 32 kills for the Warhawks, with Lillge getting 15 and Langer 17.
Stout got nine kills from
Kate Mikutowski (Sr, Stillwater, Minn) and eight from
Morgan Denny (So, Luck). Mikutowski gathered 12 digs and passed 1000 digs for her career.
Stout will compete in the WIAC Volleyball quarterfinals, Tuesday, Oct. 30.
