MENOMONIE (October 12, 2012) - UW-Stout dropped the first set to St. Olaf in the opening match of the UW-Stout Tournament, but
Kate Mikutowski (Sr, Stillwater, Minn),
Morgan Denny (So, Luck) and
Laura Reiter (So, Lino Lake, Minn) put an end to that as the Blue Devils took the final three sets Friday.
Mikutowski, Denny and Reiter combined for 44 kills in the four set match as the Blue Devils took the match, 21-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-21.
MIkutowski and Denny both matched a career-highs, with Mikutowski finishing with 19 kills, and Denny with 14. Reiter set a career-high with 11 kills.
The Blue Devils managed only eight kills in the first set and had a hitting percentage of .057. The Blue Devils had no fewer than 15 kills the rest of the match. Stout finished the match with eight service aces. Mikutowski had 22 digs and
Megan Shanahan (Sr, Norwood, Young-America, Minn} had 19 digs.
In a 25-17, 25-23, 25-22 loss to St. Benedict to close out the night, Mikutowski finished with 13 kills.
Stout will play St. Catherine and St. Mary's on the final day of the tournament Saturday.
