MENOMONIE (September 21, 2011) - UW-Stout's home opener wasn't a happy one as the Blue Devils fell in three games to rival UW-Eau Claire Wednesday at Johnson Fieldhouse.
The Blugolds (7-8, 1-0 WIAC), the leaders in the league in hitting percentage, again made their attacks count, hitting at a .324 clip. Anne Satterlee led the way for the Blugolds with 10 kills, while Liz Amici finished with nine.
The Blugolds took the conference-opening match, 25-13, 25-17, 25-18.
Stout was led at the net by
Kate Mikutowski (Jr, Stillwater, Minn), who recorded eight kills.
Tori Sandstrom (Jr, Cary, Ill) added five.
Sara Kjos (Sr, Hamburg, Minn) had a good night with the block, recording one solo blockand three assisted blocks. Mikutowski finished with a solo and two assists.
Stout will continue on into WIAC action this weekend when they are at UW-Platteville, Friday, Sept. 23 and at UW-La Crosse, Saturday, Sept. 24.
