UW-Stout 3, UW-Superior 0
SUPERIOR (September 17, 2011) -
Courtney Tideman (Sr, Sartell, Minn) scored two goals and
Whitney Fenne (So, Columbus, Minn) recorded a shutout in her first start of the season as UW-Stout defeated UW-Superior, 3-0, at the Superior High School soccer field.
Tideman opened the scoring in the 20th minute when she took a cross from
Grace Salwasser (Sr, Cottage Grove, Minn) and headed the ball home for what would stand up as the game winning goal.
Tideman added her second goal of the game - and her fourth of the season - in the 65th minute of the contest.
Salwasser finished the scoring when she notched her first goal of the year in the 71st minute of play.
Fenne, who saw her first action of the season in the goal, finished with five saves. The win improved Stout to 4-1-0 overall, and evened their conference record at 1-1-0. The shutout was Stout's third of the season and the first of Fenne's career.
Stout returns to action when they host UW-Whitewater, Saturday, Sept. 24 at 4 p.m. and St. Norbert College, Sunday, Sept. 25 at 2 p.m.
