UW-River Falls 4, UW-Stout 2
RIVER FALLS (September 14, 2011) - UW-Stout gave up three goals in the second half and lost their first game of the season, a 4-2 decision at UW-River Falls, Wednesday.
The Blue Devils (3-1-0, 0-0-0) fell behind early - the first time they were behind all season - when River Falls (1-4-0, 1-0-0) opened the game with an unassisted goal by Leah Hagen six minutes into the game.
But Stout came roaring back before halftime.
Courtney Tideman (Sr, Sartell, Minn) headed in a free kick from
Grace Salwasser (Sr, Cottage Grove, Minn) in the 36th minute and a little more than a minute later,
Emily Stanke (Jr, Elk Grove Village, Ill) got free inside the box for an unassisted goal.
But the winless Falcons got back-to-back goals by Janae Baron in the 57th and 65th minutes to take the lead, then got the final goal by Carlin Bunting in the 75th minute.
Robbie Shelby (Fr, LaCrosse) had her roughest collegiate day in net, recording no saves and allowed the four goals. The Falcons' Rachel Thompson recorded six saves. Overall, the Falcons outshot Stout, 12-7. Stout put eight shots on frame, compared to four for River Falls.
The Blue Devils will be at UW-Superior, Saturday, Sept. 17.
