Box Score Mary Hardin-Baylor 70, UW-Stout 57
AUSTIN, Texas (December 29, 2011) - UW-Stout fell into a hole too big to climb out of and lost to 11th ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor, 70-57, in the first game of the Concordia, Texas, Holiday Classic Thursday.
The Blue Devils' (3-8) shooting in the first half was cold as Stout hit just over 18 percent of their shots, making 5-of-25 attempts from the floor and trailed 36-15 at halftime. The Cru (9-0), meanwhile, connected on 14-of-29 from the floor, including four 3-pointers. Stout came up short on all five of their first half 3-point attempts.
Stout fell behind by as much as 25 points in the second half but, to their credit, cut away at the lead after the break and did outscore Mary Hardin-Baylor, 42-34, in the second stanza.
Steve Pax (So, Elmwood) and
Jarvis Ragland (So, Milwaukee) each scored 11 points for the Blue Devils, with Pax scoring all of his points in the second hafl. Ragland tossed in seven second half points.
Erik Olson (Jr, Buffalo, Minn) added 10 points and dished off six assists.
Alex Oman (So, Lake Elmo, Minn), playing in his first game of the season, pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Cru's Marlon Miller dropped in 27 points to lead all scorers. Sterling Phillips added 16 and James Allen came off the bench to toss in 12 points.
Stout will play host Concordia-Texas, Friday, Dec. 30 at 7:30 p.m.
