SUPERIOR (October 19, 2011) -
Tori Sandstrom (Jr, Cary, Ill) recorded 14 kills to lead UW-Stout to a 3-0 conference win over UW-Superior Wednesday.
The Blue Devils (5-19, 1-5) defeated the Yellowjackets (12-14, 1-5), 25-11, 25-22, 25-21. Sandstrom led all hitters, while
Kate Mikutowski (Jr, Stillwater, Minn) tacked on nine kills to help Stout notch their first conference win of the season.
Stout did a solid job defensively at the net, notching three solo blocks and 10 assisted blocks.
Morgan Denny (Fr, Luck) had two solo blocks and two assisted blocks.
Hope Weilage (Jr, Marshall, Minn) had three assisted blocks and
Emily Crew (Fr, Maplewood, Minn) had a solo block and four assisted blocks. Stout did serve up seven service aces with Mikutowski and
Megan Shanahan (Jr, Norwood-Young America, Minn).
For the Yellowjackets, Kitty Tynen and Nikki Gossen each had nine kills.
Stout will be at Northwestern College Friday, Oct. 21 where they will face host Northwesten and UM-Morris.
