Stout records third straight 3-0 win, down Lawrence

UW-Stout 3, Lawrence University 0

APPLETON (October 19, 2011) - For the third straight game, UW-Stout recorded a 3-0 win, this time downing Lawrence University Wednesday.

But the Blue Devils (10-1-1) change their modus operandi in this contest. In the two shutouts last weekend, Stout scored twice in the first half, then added the clincher in the second half.

Against the Vikings (4-10-1), the game wasn't really decided until Stout scored twice in the final two minutes of the game to lock up the win.

Alix Hyduke (So, Duluth, Minn) put Stout on the board in the 13th minute on the first of Grace Salwasser's (Sr, Cottage Grove, Minn) assists.

But it wouldn't be until the 88th minute of the game when Salwasser recorded that second assist and Stout could breathe easier when Courtney Tideman (Sr, Sartell, Minn) scored her team-high seventh goal of the season.

Jesse Lankford (So, Cedar Rapids, Iowa) closed the deal with a goal 30 seconds from the final horn with an unassisted goal to extend Stout's unbeaten streak to eight games.

The Blue Devils outshot Lawrence, 14-6 overall and goalkeeper Robbie Shelby (Fr, La Crosse) needed to make only two saves on the afternoon. The Vikings' Dani Glass recorded five saves.

Stout returns to conference action, Saturday, Oct. 22 when they host UW-Oshkosh at 2 p.m. at Nelson Field. Stout will host St. Thomas, Sunday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m., then will close out the regular home season by hosting UW-Eau Claire, Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.
