Stanke scores twice, Stout blanks Pioneers

UW-Stout 3, UW-Platteville 0

PLATTEVILLE (October 15, 2011) - Emily Stanke (Jr, Elk Grove Village, Ill) scored two first half goals and Robbie Shelby (Fr, La Crosse) recorded her fourth shutout of the season as UW-Stout took a 3-0 over UW-Platteville Saturday.

Stanke put the Blue Devils (8-1-1, 4-1-0) on the board in the 18th minute with an assist by Grace Salwasser (Sr, Cottage Grove, Minn). Stanke doubled Stout's lead in the 31st minute when her first shot was deflected, but she followed the shot for the score.

Salwasser closed out the scoring in the 71st minute when she scored off a corner kick, bending the ball into the net.

Shelby finished the game in goal with six saves, two in the first and four in the second.

Stout outshot the Pioneers (5-9-0, 1-5-0), 10-7, but Platteville put six shots on frame, while Stout put four on net.

Stout will be at St. Benedict, Sunday, Oct. 16 for a 3 p.m. contest.
