UW-Whitewater 95, UW-Stout 60
WHITEWATER (January 29, 2011) - Five players from UW-Whitewater scored in double digits and Stout was unable to overcome an early deficit, falling to the Warhawks, 95-60, Saturday evening at Kachel Gym.
Chris Davis scored eight of Whitewater's (13-6, 6-4 WIAC) first 11 points, as they jumped out to an 11-3 lead. Stout (8-11, 3-8 WIAC) battled back, making it an 18-15 game halfway through the first half. The Warhawks went on a 14-3 run over the next two minutes and later went on an 11-0 run to extend their lead to 24 points with four minutes to go.
Stout opened the second half by scoring the first six points, four of which were made by
Jordan Nelson (Jr, Maple Grove, Minn.). Whitewater's lead slowly grew and with 12 minutes to go in the game, Whitewater started a 21-6 run the put the game away.
DJ Dantzler led all players with 20 points for the Warhawks. Cody Odegaard and Davis each added 16 points. For the Blue Devils,
Eric Hostetter (Sr, Stillwater, Minn.) scored a team-high 16 points.
Steve Pax (Fr, Elmwood) shot 4-9 from the field to add 12 points for the Blue Devils.
Stout will travel to Stevens Point on Wednesday, Feb. 2 to take on the Pointers at 7 p.m.
