Blue Devils on wrong end of shutout at Duluth

Concordia-Moorhead 7, UW-Stout 0 | Advantage Emblem Cup website

DULUTH, Minn. (September 4, 2010)
-  A day after recording their first shutout of the season, the UW-Stout women's soccer team found themselves on the other end of a shutout as they lost to Concordia-Moorhead Saturday at the Advantage Emblem Cup hosted by St. Scholastica.

The Cobbers, who advanced to the final 16 of the 2009 NCAA Championships, opened up the scoring in the 12th minute and hardly relented throughout the cool afternoon on their way to a 7-0 win. Concordia got two goals apiece from Sam Johnson and Gina Weiss. Weiss added two assists.

The Blue Devils' Whitney Fenne (Fr, Columbus, Minn) felt the brunt of the Cobbers' offensive attack, stopping 15 shots, but allowing all seven goals. Amanda Matti (Fr, Shoreview, Minn) finished the final six minutes of the game in the net.

Stout (1-2) put five shots on net and seven total shots towards the net.  The Cobbers (2-0) put 22 on frame and 28 shots overall.

Jesse Lankford (Fr, Cedar Falls, Iowa) and Becky Glass (So, Eagan, Minn) were named to the all-tournament team.

Archived video of the tournament is available on the Advantage Emblem Cup website.

Stout will open the home portion of their schedule Saturday, Sept. 11 when they host St. Benedict at noon.
