Volleyball team drops two at Platteville

UW-Platteville Tournament | Augustana 3, UW-Stout 1 | Edgewood 3, UW-Stout 1 | Dominican 3, Stout 0 | St. Norbert 3, Stout 1

PLATTEVILLE (September 25, 2010) - Steph Nichols (Sr, Greendale) and Tori Sandstrom (So, Cary, Ill) had big kill numbers but it wasn't enough to break a losing streak for UW-Stout as the Blue Devils lost the two final games at the UW-Platteville Tournament Saturday.

Nichols had a team-high 15 kills in a 3-1 loss to St. Norbert and Sandstrom finished the contest with 13 kills. Kim Labat (Sr, Marshall, Minn) had 21 digs in the contest and Mallory White (Fr, St. Joseph, Minn) recorded 37 assists.

The Blue Devils captured the first game, 25-12, but the Green Knights took the other three, 25-22, 25-21, 25-14.

Earlier in the day, Stout lost, 25-19, 25-17, 25-22, to Dominican University. Sandstrom had seven kills to lead Stout. Labat had 21 digs.

The Blue Devils are off until they travel to UW-Whitewater, Friday, Oct. 1 and at UW-Oshkosh, Saturday, Oct. 2.


BLUE DEVILS FALL TWICE ON OPENING DAY AT PLATTEVILLE TOURNAMENT

PLATTEVILLE (September 24, 2010) - The UW-Stout volleyball team lost two matches at the UW-Platteville Tournament by identical 3-1 scores Friday.

Stout lost to Augustana College, 25-12, 19-25, 25-17, 25-18, in the opener, then were defeated by Edgewood College, 23-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-21, in the final match of the night.

Stout will play Dominican University and St. Norbert College, Saturday, Sept. 25, on the final day of the tournament.
