MENOMONIE (September 21, 2010) -
Emily Ferger (Fr, Wauwatosa) tallied a pair of assists and
Jesse Lankford (Fr, Cedar Falls, Iowa) notched the eventual game-winning goal as UW-Stout defeated Hamline University, 3-1, Tuesday at Nelson Field.
Ferger assisted on the first two goals of the game, assisting
Jessica Price (Sr, Woodbury, Minn) in the 20th minute of the game, then fed the ball to breaking Lankford in the 56th minute to give Stout a 2-0 lead.
But the Pipers (3-4-0) added some drama when only 19 seconds after Lankford's goal, Jackie Skoviak scored to cut the lead in half.
The Blue Devils (3-4-0) put the game on ice in the 71st minute when
Grace Salwasser (Jr, Cottage Grove, Minn) blasted a penalty kick into the lower right corner of the net.
Stout's
Whitney Fenne (Jr, Columbus, Minn) recorded three saves, while Hamline's Liz Stock had seven saves.
Stout will host Lawrence University, Saturday, Sept. 25 at 3:30 p.m. for Youth Day.
