Momentum shifts, Eagles go past Stout in five

MENOMONIE (September 17, 2010)
- Don Meredith of the old time Monday Night Football would have been talking about old Momentum shifting.

UW-Stout (1-9, 0-2) handily won the first two sets against UW-La Crosse, but the Eagles took advantage of a shifting moment and reversed the course for 15-25, 18-25, 25-14, 25-17, 15-9 win over the Blue Devils Friday at Johnson Fieldhouse.

A quick look at the stats page, and one can see the momentum shift as the Eagles' hitting percentage gradually went up as a team over the final three games. The Eagles (7-3, 1-1) hit near bottom in game two with a percentage of .121, but shot up to the .345 in the third game and topped out at .450 in the third and deciing game.

Kayla Ashland of the Eagles led all players with 19 kills.

Hope Weilage (So, Marshall, Minn) and Sara Kjos (Jr, Hamburg, Minn) each had 12 kills for the Blue Devils.

Stout will host UW-Platteville, Saturday, Sept. 18 at noon and UW-River Falls, Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.
