Wearing two hats, Blue Devils down Ripon

Price, Tideman record hat tricks, Glass has three assists

RIPON (September 12, 2010) - Jessica Price (Sr, Woodbury, Minn) and Courtney Tideman (Jr, Sartell, Minn) each scored a hat trick as UW-Stout rolled over Ripon College, 8-1, Sunday.

The double hat trick is the first time two Stout players have each scored a hat trick in a single game since Nellie Sivertsen and Jessica Unterweger accomplished the feat on Oct. 2, 1999.

The Blue Devils got a collegiate-first goal from Kayla Sievert (Fr, Farmington, Minn) and Grace Salwasser (Jr, Cottage Grove, Minn) added a goal.

Becky Glass (So, Eagan, Minn) recorded a career-high three assists, providing an assist on each of Price's goals, In addition to Glass' assists, the Blue Devils got assists from Salwasser, Lizzie Peterson (Fr, Bloomington, Minn, Alix Hyduke (Fr, Duluth, Minn), Kaitlin Kalan (Sr, Owatonna, Minn), Katie Ness (Sr, River Falls) and Jesse Lankford (Fr, Cedar Falls, Iowa).

Sievert opened the scoring four minutes into the game, but Ripon tied the game in the 10th minute. It was all Stout after that. Salwasser scored in the 13th minute, then Tideman, who normally plays defense but was moved up to midfield for the game, scored the next three goals. She added two in the first half, then opened the second period with a goal.

Price scored the final three goals of the game over the final 25 minutes of the game.

Amanda Matti (Fr, Shoreview, Minn) recorded four saves in 60 minutes of work in goal and McKenna Missfeldt (So, Holcombe) worked the final 30 minutes and made one save.

The Blue Devils will open WIAC play Saturday, Sept. 18 when they travel to UW-Whitewater with a 7 p.m. contest.
