MENOMONIE (October 9, 2010) - UW-Platteville scored with two minutes remaining in the game to force overtime and UW-Stout and Platteville went on to 1-1 double overtime tie Saturday at Nelson Field.
The Blue Devils (5-6-1, 0-3-1) jumped out to an early lead when
Jessica Price (Sr, Woodbury, Minn) took a cross from
Grace Salwasser (Jr, Cottage Grove, Minn) in the 23rd minute.
The Pioneers (8-5-1, 2-2-1) tied the game in the 85th minute wnen Sarah Eck received a free kick from Meghan McGivern.
Stout defenders turned back two solid Platteville attempts in the box in the second overtime period.
Courtney Tideman (Jr, Sartell, Minn) took a solid shot off her leg with six minutes left in the game and
Kaitlin Kalan (Sr, Owatonna, Minn) headed another shot away with three minutes left.
By virtue of the tie, the Pioneers snapped a 14 game winless streak against the Blue Devils. Stout holds a 14-1-1 series lead with Platteville's only win coming in 1995, Stout's first varsity season.
