MENOMONIE (October 23, 2010) - UW-La Crosse's Cayla Duffy scored in the 101st minute to hand UW-Stout a 2-1 overtime loss Saturday at Nelson Field.
The goal, Duffy's first of the season, came off a feed by Lindsay Wilde. Duffy had a hand in the previous goal that tied the game. Duffy's throw-in in the 71st minute found Taylor Baker who tied the score at 1-1.
Stout's only goal of the game came in the first three minutes of play when the Eagles (8-5-2, 2-3-2) were trying to clear the ball, and chipped the ball into the net.
The Blue Devils (6-10-1, 0-6-1) put the ball on net more times (10 times to six times) than the Eagles, but could not get the ball past Emily Wick, who stopped nine shots. Stout's
Whitney Fenne (Fr, Columbus, Minn) took the loss, working just the second half and recording three saves.
Amanda Matti (Fr, Shoreview, Minn) worked the first half, stopping one shot.
The Eagles outshot Stout overall, 17-11.
Stout will close out the season, Saturday, Oct. 30 when they host UW-Superior at 2 p.m.
