Stout starts out well, Pointers retrieve win

UW-Stevens Point 3, UW-Stout 1

STEVENS POINT (October 15, 2010) - UW-Stout started out with a first set win, but UW-Stevens Point came back to win the next three sets and hand the Blue Devils a 3-1 loss Friday.

The Blue Devils won the first contest, 25-22, but the Pointers took the next three, 25-20, 25-22, 25-15.

Sara Kjos (Jr, Hamburg, Minn) led Stout with 10 kills, while Kate Mikutowski (So, Stillwater, Minn) finished with eight. Kjos added a pair of solo blocks and three block assists. Kim Labat (Sr, Marshall) moved to the setter spot and finished the night with 34 assists and 13 digs. Mikutowski, Megan Shanahan (So, Norwood-Young America, Minn), and Taylor Fabian (So, Lake Elmo, Minn) each had 15 digs.

The Pointers' Morgan Bartkowiak led all players with 14 kills and Christina Brinkman added 10.

Stout will close out the home portion of their schedule Wednesday, Oct. 20 when they host UW-Superior at 7 p.m. for senior night and for Dig for the Cure, a night to raise awareness of breast cancer.
