UW-La Crosse 85, UW-Stout 75
LA CROSSE (January 27, 2010) - UW-Stout had four players score in double figures, but UW-La Crosse had five players score in double figures and the Eagles used a second half run to pull away from the Blue Devils for an 85-75 win at Mitchell Hall Wednesday.
With the Eagles (14-5, 6-4) holding a 61-60 lead with 6-minutes, 50-seconds remaining in the game, La Crosse went off on a 14-5 run to put enough cushion over Stout (9-9, 4-6). The game was tied seven times before the Eagles pulled away.
Stout's
Jerrel Enerson-Matthews (Sr, Anoka, Minn) led all scorers with 19 points, 16 in the second half.
Eric Hostetter (Jr, Stillwater, Minn) tossed in 18 points,
Jerrod Buchholtz (Jr, Durand) 13 and
Mahlon Thomas (Jr, Brooklyn Park, Minn) racked up a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Jeff Heiden led five Eagles in double-digit scoring with 18 points. Tony Mane and Trevor Stratton each contributed 16 points, Austin Scott 12 and Al Chery 11 points.
Stout trailed by three, 37-34, at halftime, then pulled up to a five point lead seven minutes into the second half.
Stout will be at UW-Whitewater, Saturday, Jan. 30 at 6 p.m, then return to Johnson Fieldhouse to host UW-Stevens Point, Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m.
