Stout 3, Northland 0 | Stout 3, St. Scholastica 2
ASHLAND (September 1, 2009) -
Kate Mikutowski (Fr, Stillwater, Minn) had a successful debut as UW-Stout opened the 2009 volleyball season by taking two matches at a triangular hosted by Northland College Tuesday.
The Blue Devils defeated host Northland College 24-23, 25-19, 25-17 in the first match, held at Ashland High School. The Blue Devils then came back to down St. Scholastica, 25-15, 23-25, 25-21, 20-25, 15-13, and run their record to 2-0 on their first day of competition.
Mikutowski played a big role in both contests, racking up 15 kills in the 3-0 win over Northland in the first match of the day, then came back with 13 in the 3-2 win over St. Scholastica. Mikutowski hit at a .542 clip in the match with Northland.
Jamie Olson (So, Andover, Minn) had 11 kills in the second match to complement Mikutowski.
Stout will be at the UW-Eau Claire Fall Invitational, Friday, Sept. 4 and Saturday, Sept. 5.
