MENOMONIE (Sept. 1, 2009) - After a scoreless first half, the Blue Devils fell behind, 1-0, to Augsburg College and could not convert on a late surge as they dropped their season opener Tuesday night at Nelson Field.

Kaitlin Arjes made her first collegiate start in goal
Stout (0-1) matched the Auggies (1-0) in the first half with five shots apiece.  Jessica Price (Jr, Woodbury, Minn.) led all players with three shots, two of which were on goal, but later was ejected after two yellow cards.

Augsburg grabbed the lead near the 60 minute mark when Lacey Hoover scored on a corner kick by Whitney Holman.

The Blue Devils nearly tied the game late in the second period when Katie Ness (Jr, River Falls) took a Courtney Tideman (So, Sartell, Minn.) pass, but had her shot blocked by a diving Diana Bocklund.

Kaitlin Arjes (Jr, Owatonna, Minn.), who started in the goal for the first time in her college career, recorded three saves while allowing one goal.  Bocklund recorded four saves for the Auggies.

Stout returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 3 when they travel to Chicago, Ill. to face North Park University.
