MENOMONIE (October 3, 2009) - Nikki Reed booted a laser beam free kick into the upper corner of the net with 45 seconds remaining in the contest to lift UW-Oshkosh over UW-Stout, 2-1, Saturday at Nelson Field.
The Blue Devils (3-8-0, 2-3-0) were called for a trip and Reed converted the kick.
The goal knocked the shine off Stout's late rally. The Titans (4-4-2, 2-1-1) took the lead early in the game on a Carmen Fiordellisi goal 14 minutes into the contest and both defenses made that stand up for the next 60 minutes.
Andrea Greer (Jr, Woodbury, Minn) centered a pass from deep in the corner to Kaitlin Arjes (Jr, Owatonna, Minn) in the box. Arjes, between two Titans, knocked the ball down with her chest, put it at her feet and scored the goal while falling to the ground in the 82nd minute.
Bridget LaVallee (Fr, St. Michael, Minn) received her first loss of the season, stopping four shots. Brittany Walder of Oshkosh also recorded four saves. The Titans outshot Stout, 15-14, overall for the game.
Stout will be at Hamline University, Tuesday, Oct. 6, to kick off a four-game road trip.
