MENOMONIE (October 18, 2009)
- Ali Sonsteby (Jr, Clearwater, Minn) saved a ball from going over the end line, passed the ball back into the middle and Kaitlin Arjes (Jr, Owatonna, Minn) put a head on the ball to give UW-Stout a 3-2 overtime win over St. Catherine Sunday at Nelson Field.

Stout (5-11-0) overcame a very early St. Catherine (4-7-0) lead to score two goals in the second half and win the game in overtime.

The Wildcats scored twice in the first five minutes of the game, but Stout's Bridget LaVallee (Fr, St. Michael, Minn) made a solid play early by deflecting a shot straight up and over the net only a minute into the game.

But the Wildcats broke the ice seconds later when Megan Gosselin took the ensuing corner kick and deflected it off a Stout player. Only three minutes later, the Wildcats doubled up the score when Samantha Levercom took a pass from Claire Saunders.

Stout bounced back in the second half when Katie Ness (Jr, River Falls) scored in the 53rd minute when she chipped the ball over the St. Catherine's goalie's end.

Stout tied the score in the 73rd minute when Jessica Price (Jr, Woodbury, Minn) beat the goalie, getting an assist by Grace Salwasser (So, Cottage Grove, Minn).

The game-winning goal came from a corner kick and was scored in the 98th minute.

LaVallee finished the game with two saves, and the Wildcats' Chelsea Jones-Thomas recorded three saves.

Stout will be at St. Olaf, Wednesday, Oct. 21 and will close out the regular season by returning home Saturday, Oct. 24 to host UW-Whitewater at 2 p.m.
