UW-Platteville 3, UW-Stout 0
PLATTEVILLE (October 17, 2009) - UW-Platteville defeated UW-Stout, 3-0, Saturday in Platteville.
The Pioneers (17-7, 5-2) took the first two games, 25-14, 25-17, but Stout (11-13, 1-6) played it strong in the third set, before falling, 31-29.
Melanie Bailiff had 12 kills for Platteville to lead all scorers, while Melissa Hillebrand added 10.
Kate Mikutowski (Fr, Stillwater, Minn) led Stout with eight kills and
Hope Weilage (Fr, Marshall, Minn) finished with six. The Blue Devils worked together defensively on the net, coming up with three solo blocks and 15 assisted blocks.
Steph Nichols (Jr, Greendale) had four block assists, as did Weilage. Mikutowski finished with three block assists.
Stout will be at UW-River Falls Wednesday, Oct. 21 to close out the conference schedule, then will be at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational, Oct. 23-24.
