La Crosse 3, Stout 2
LA CROSSE (October 16, 2009) - In a near marathon event, UW-La Crosse tripped up UW-Stout, 3-2, in a WIAC contest Friday night.
The nearly two-hour match went down to the wire in the first three sets. La Crosse won the first set, 28-26, but Stout (11-12, 1-5) came back for a 25-23 second set win. The third set saw La Crosse (5-18, 2-5) grab the lead back with a 27-25 win.
Stout regained the reins in the fourth set, 25-18. The Eagles jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the fifth set and took a 15-6 win.
Brianna Stankus of La Crosse led all scorers with 24 kills and Liz Schlobom had 47 assists.
Stout was led by
Kate Mikutowski (Fr, Stillwater, Minn) with 14 kills.
Steph Nichols (Jr, Greendale) collected 13 kills and Kate Weilage (Fr, Marshall, Minn) had 10 kills.
Kim Labat (Jr, Marshall, Minn) had 45 assists and
Alicia Mizer (Sr, Barron) had 24 digs.
Sara Kjos (So, Hamburg, Minn) had two solo blocks and two block assists.
Stout will be at UW-Platteville, Saturday, Oct. 17 and at UW-River Falls, Wednesday, Oct. 21.
