MENOMONIE (October 14, 2009) - 17th ranked UW-Eau Claire was too much for Stout to handle, Wednesday night, as the Blue Devils fell in straight sets at Johnson Fieldhouse.

The Blugolds' margin of victory got larger with each game, as they took the first set 25-20, followed by second and third set scores of 25-18, and 25-17, respectively.

Steph Nichols (Jr, Greendale) led all players with 10 kills, followed closely by teammate Kate Mikutowski (Fr, Stillwater, Minn.) and Eau Claire's Kristen Moore, who each recorded nine.  Emily Neave was credited with 40 assists for the Blugolds, while junior Kim Labat (Marshall, Minn.) had 31.

Pink shirts flooded the gym tonight, as the teams celebrated "Dig for the Cure", a WIAC-sponsored program to raise awareness - and funds - in the fight against breast cancer.  Both teams sported pink jerseys, in addition to the many events happening on the night.

Stout looks ahead to two WIAC matches this weekend, as they travel to UW-La Crosse on Friday, Oct. 16, and UW-Platteville on Saturday.
