MENOMONIE (September 17, 2008) - Jessica Halverson (Sr, Delano, Minn) withstood a second half barrage of shots by UW-River Falls and UW-Stout went on to a 3-0 win over the Falcons, Wednesday at Nelson Field.
The Falcons (1-6-0, 0-2-0) put 11 shots on frame in the second half, but Halverson stopped all of the shots, including one off a header she pushed to the outside while on her knees and another that she pushed over the top of the net.
Overall, the Falcons outshot Stout, 15-7, and put 13 on net, compared to six on net for the Blue Devils.
Jessica Price (So, Woodbury, Minn) gave Stout the lead in the 28th minute when she juked the goalie to score unassisted for her third goal of the season.
Price doubled the score only three minutes into the second half when she took a pass in traffic from Andrea Greer (So, Woodbury, Minn). Kaitlin Arjes (So, Owatonna, Minn) completed the scoring on a penalty kick in the 66th minute.
Stout will host UW-Platteville Saturday, Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. and the University of Dubuque, Sunday, Sept. 21 at 2 p.m.
