UW-River Falls 62, UW-Stout 52
RIVER FALLS (December 10, 2008) - UW-Stout controlled the first half and the first 10 minutes of the second half, but it was UW-River Falls that came back to win the game with a strong final 10 minutes as the Falcons took a 62-52 win at Kargas Center Wednesday.
Stout (2-5, 0-2) built a 31-24 halftime lead as Jerrod Buchholtz (So, Durand) scored nine points to lead Stout before heading into the locker room.
Stout led 42-37 midway through the second stanza when the Falcons (5-3, 2-0) went on a 10-0 run to take a 47-42 lead, a lead they would not relinquish.
Aaron Anderson and Brady Hannigan each scored three points in the run, Anderson a 3-pointer at 8:06 for the 47-42 lead. Anderson connected on another long distance shot less than a minute later to give the Falcons a 50-44 lead. The Falcons went on to hold between a seven and nine point lead until the end when they connected on free throws for the 10-point margin.
The Falcons held Buchholtz scoreless in the second half. Stout got 16 points and nine rebounds from Jerrel Enerson-Matthews (Jr, Anoka, Minn).
River Falls had three players in double digits, led by Jake Voeltz's 17 points. Jontae Koonkaew had 14 points and Anderson finished the night with 13 point, 10 in the second half.
Stout will host UW-Oshkosh, Saturday, Dec. 13 at 5 p.m.
