UW-La Crosse 2, UW-Stout 1
LA CROSSE (November 1, 2008) - UW-La Crosse put an end to UW-Stout's season with a 2-1 win over the Blue Devils in the quarterfinals of the WIAC tournament Saturday.
All three goals came in the first half as the Eagles' Michaela Kocon scored in the 15th minute.
Stout (6-11-3) knotted the score when Jessica Price (So, Woodbury, Minn), the Blue Devils' leading scorer, knotched her 10th goal of the season in the 20th minute, with an assist from Katie Ness (So, River Falls).
The Eagles (9-7-2) got what would prove to be the game winner in the 34th minute on a shot by Sarah Harrington. The teams were scoreless in the second half, with La Crosse putting two shots on net, to none for Stout. The two teams had played to a scoreless tie during the season.
The Eagles advance to the semi-final round and will play top-seeded UW-Stevens Point, Friday, Nov. 7 in Stevens Point.
