MENOMONIE (October 8, 2008) - UW-Superior rarely relinquished the lead as the Yellowjackets defeated UW-Stout, 3-0, Wednesday at Johnson Fieldhouse.
The Yellowjackets (7-11, 1-4) never surrendered the lead in the first two sets as they defeated the Blue Devils by identical 25-19 scores. The Blue Devils (4-15, 1-3) did come back and take the lead in the third set, but Superior came back for a 25-21 win to complete the sweep.
Stout's Steph Nichols (So, Greendale) was the only player to record double-digit kills, putting down 10 kills. The Blue Devils recorded more overall kills, but also recorded more overall hitting errors.
the Blue Devils sponsored "Dig for the Cure", a conference wide effort to raise the awareness for breast cancer research.
Stout is off this weekend and return to action Wednesday, Oct. 15 at UW-Eau Claire. Stout will host UW-Platteville, Friday, Oct. 17 and UW-La Crosse, Saturday, Oct. 18.
