Stout soccer falls to St. Catherine's

ST. PAUL, Minn.  (October 8, 2008) - UW-Stout outshot St. Catherine's, but St. Kate's scored twice as many goals as the Blue Devils in taking a 2-1 win Wednesday.

All of the scoring was in the first half. The Wildcats' (6-5-1) Megan Gosselin opened the scoring only a minute into the game.

Stout (4-6-3) came back in the 16th minute when Jessica Price (So, Woodbury, Minn) scored unassisted.

The Wildcats got would eventually be the clincher when Samantha Levercome scored in the 36th minute.

Stout outshot St. Kate's, 16-13, and put six shots on net compared to four for St. Catherine's. Jessica Halverson (Sr, Delano, Minn) worked the first half and took the loss, getting two saves. Taylor Randle (Fr, Shoreview, Minn) worked the final 45 minutes, but didn't record a save. St. Kate's Rachel Farrell had five saves.

Stout returns home Saturday, Oct. 11 to host UW-Superior at 2 p.m. at Nelson Field.
