Swanson, Meixl lead Stout to win over Pointers

STEVENS POINT  (October 4, 2008) - Behind the one-two attack of Jenna Swanson (Jr, Hayfield, Minn) and Maggie Meixl (Sr, Mankato, Minn), the UW-Stout volleyball team defeated UW-Stevens Point, 3-1, Saturday.

Swanson put down a match-high 14 kills, while Meixl hit 11 kills with an efficient hitting percentage of .429. Meixl also had a solo block and an assisted block. Swanson had a solo block and two assisted blocks.

Stout (4-14, 1-3), in picking up their first conference win of the season, downed the Pointers (25-16, 25-22, 19-25, 25-16.

Kim Labat (So, Marshall, Minn) had 33 assists and five service aces.

Stout will host UW-Superior, Wednesday, Oct. 8. The night will also mark the night Stout will raise funds for breast cancer research in the conference sponsored "Dig for the Cure."
