MENOMONIE  (October 4, 2008) - They were even on paper before the game, and they proved to be even on grass as UW-Stout and UW-La Crosse played to a scoreless, double overtime tie, Saturday at Nelson Field.

Both the Eagles' (5-4-2, 2-2-1) goalie Amanda Clark and Stout's (4-5-3, 2-1-2) goalie Taylor Randle (Fr, Shoreview, Minn) were up to the task, with Clark collecting seven saves and Randle, eight. Only one point separates Stout and La Crosse in the WIAC standings.

But La Crosse outshot Stout overall, 29-13, on the game.

Both teams had an outstanding opportunity to win the game in the final three minutes of the second overtime.

Stout's Jessica Price (So, Woodbury, Minn) had a breakaway and looked to score, but Clark got a finger on the ball about 10 feet out of the net and Price over ran the ball.

In the final minute, La Crosse actually put the ball into the net, but were whistled with the only offside call of the game.

Stout will be at St. Catherine, Wednesday, Oct. 8, and will host UW-Superior, Saturday, Oct. 11 at 2 p.m.
