PELLA, Iowa (October 25, 2008) - The UW-Stout volleyball team snapped a seven match losing skid with a 3-0 win over Grinnell College in the final match of the Central College Invitational Saturday.
The Blue Devils (5-22) made quick work in defeating Grinnell, 25-17, 25-27, 25-14. Jenna Swanson (Jr, Hayfield, Minn) had 10 kills to lead Stout, while Steph Nichols (So, Greendale), who was named to the all-tournament team, had seven kills. Allie Moir (So, Pewaukee) finished the match with five service aces. Maggie Meixl (Sr, Mankato, Minn) had two solo blocks and two block assists.
Earlier in the day, Stout lost to Augustana, Ill, College, in four sets, 25-16, 25-19, 17-25, 25-17.
Nichols had 13 kills against Augustana, while Meixl had three solo blocks and three block assists. Alicia Mizer (Jr, Barron) had 16 digs.
Stout closes out the regular season Saturday, Nov. 1 when they play Augustana College and UW-La Crosse in a triangular at La Crosse. The Blue Devils will be at UW-Eau Claire, Tuesday, Nov. 4 in the quarterfinals of the WIAC Tournament.
