MENOMONIE (October 22, 2008) - UW-Stout won the first set, but couldn't hold on and fell to UW-River Falls, 3-1, in the Blue Devils' final home match of the year, Wednesday, at Johnson Fieldhouse.
The Blue Devils (4-19, 1-7) won the first set, 25-22, but the Falcons (12-16, 2-6) came storming back to capture the final three sets, 25-12, 25-23, 25-10.
Stout got 13 kills from Steph Nichols (So, Greendale), while the Falcons were led by Kelsey Scheele with a match-high 15 kills. Gina DeRosa had seven block assists for the Falcons.
Stout will be at the Central, Iowa, College Tournament, Oct. 24-25, in Pella, Iowa, then will close the regular season with a triangular at UW-La Crosse, Saturday, Nov. 1.
