UW-Stout's Grace Maurer held off seven UW-La Crosse runners as she claimed the conference 400-meter title at the 2022 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Track and Field Championship at UW-Platteville Feb. 25. Maurer earned the 400-meter title with a time of 58.96 seconds. Maurer was the top seed in the event. Runners from La Crosse claimed the next seven places in the event. Maurer is the second UW-Stout runner to win the indoor 400 crown. Laurissa Titterud won the 400 in 2015.  Maurer climbed onto the championship podium twice on Saturday, Feb. 26.  A day after winning the 400-meter title, Maurer was fifth in the 200-meter with a personal best time of 25.82. Maurer was also a member of the fifth place 4x400-meter relay team along with Kiley Lehman, Sydney Reisner and Katelyn Knapp with a time of 4:05.11.
