Jace Baumann picked up a save and a win last week, pitching 2.1 innings in Stout’s 2-0 win over Oshkosh in the first round of the WIAC Baseball Championship, coming in with the bases loaded in the seventh inning and recorded a strikeout for the third out. Baumann stayed in to earn the save, but also endured a 29-minute rain delay in the eighth inning. Baumann turned around two days later to start and pitch all seven innings in Stout’s 15-0, 7-inning win over WIAC top-seeded UW-Stevens Point in the next round of the tourament . In all last week, Baumann pitched 9.1 innings over the two games, scattered five hits (one against Oshkosh, four against Stevens Point), allowed no runs, struck out four and walked one. Baumann held his opponents to a .156 batting average. Stout lost the next two games in the double-elimination tournament to UW-Whitewater (10-0, 7-inn) and Stevens Point (8-3) to conclude the season.Â
